Ventilation is a central component of the ACT composting system. It ensures that the microorganisms in the rotting material are continuously supplied with oxygen. Biological decomposition can only take place efficiently under sufficiently aerobic conditions. <\/p>\n\n
The aeration system fulfills several tasks at the same time. It supplies the windrow with oxygen, supports the temperature development in the rotting process and ensures that moisture and process gases are removed in a controlled manner. An even and needs-based air supply is therefore crucial for a stable composting process. <\/p>\n\n
In the ACT system, the ambient air is blown into the ventilation channels via fans. The fans are located at the head of the windrows on the rear wall of the system. <\/p>\n\n
Depending on the system configuration, a fan with an output of 0.5 to 1.5 kW is used. One fan can serve several aeration channels. The air volume is controlled according to demand so that only as much air is blown in as is required for the respective rotting process. <\/p>\n\n
The comparatively low power requirement shows that the system deliberately operates with moderate air volumes. This keeps the power consumption low and the operation of the system energy-efficient. <\/p>\n\n
During commissioning of the system, the ventilation is adjusted to the respective framework conditions together with the operator. Factors such as material composition, windrow height and climatic conditions are taken into account so that the ventilation system is optimally adjusted to the respective system. <\/p>\n\n
