It is pulled by a tractor, in practice usually a wheel loader, to the respective compost heap and positioned there.

Thanks to its simple design and flexible positioning, it is particularly suitable for systems in which membranes have to be regularly picked up and put down again.

Positioning at the compost heap

The TM is placed in front of the compost heap by the wheel loader using a towing device. After parking, support legs are extended so that the machine is stable in front of the windrow.

For covering, the membrane is pulled over the rotting material using a cable pull and a deflection pulley on the rear wall. To wind up, the membrane is then attached to the winding drum and rolled up in a controlled manner.

After the wrapping process, the machine can be picked up again by the tractor and transported to the next rental.

Electric operation instead of combustion engine

The TM is powered by a battery that can be charged via a 230-volt connection. One battery charge is usually sufficient for around ten wrapping processes.

In contrast to many comparable solutions, ACT relies on a battery-powered hydraulic system instead of a petrol engine. This results in significantly less noise during system operation and no local combustion emissions.

Robust construction for outdoor use

The wrapping devices are manufactured by Wiro Metallbau GmbH in Germany. The construction is mainly made of steel and is designed for long-term use under the conditions of a composting plant.

The appliances can be left outside without any problems and do not require any additional weather protection.

Simple and reliable solution for many systems

The TM is a robust yet uncomplicated solution for handling membrane covers. The combination of a retractable design, electrical operation and stable construction means that the device can be used flexibly on different systems.

The Towed Machine offers a practical and economical way of handling membrane covers efficiently, particularly for plants that already work with wheel loaders and do not require a fully automated winding solution.

Text by Jonas Schmidt

Functional principle of the wrapping device The TM (Towed Machine) is a variant of the ACT winder and is designed as a retractable system for membrane covers.
